A moment with the stars

Last night we had our monthly meeting with the Barrie Photo Club executive committee. The meeting ended after the sun went down, and I took the opportunity to snap a shot of the night sky before heading home. It was a full moon however, so I couldn’t get as many stars in the photo without the light from the moon overpowering the sky. This is actually my first try (aside from a photo of the moon) at a photo of the night sky:

Night sky with a full moon

I was speaking with a few friends and they have been asking when I’ll be updating the blog. It is really encouraging to hear this, as it reminds me how many people are interested in my photography. A special shout out to everyone across the pond! I’ll post again soon, I promise. :)

nice job on the night sky shot – I’m guessing it was shot with a fisheye, and if that’s the case it’s one of the best-composed fisheye shots I’ve seen on the web.

I wonder how the same shot would look with star trails, but I do think it’s very well done as is

Thanks sweetie, very happy that you enjoyed this photo. Your pride in me is one of my biggest sources of inspiration. I love you very much too :)

firthefirst, thanks for the compliment – this was indeed taken with a fisheye lens. I want to head back to this spot on a moonless night, when I can have the shutter open for long enough to create the star trails. The light from the moon prevents this if it is anything more than a sliver. I’ll be watching the calendar!
