The Universe (as I see it)

Adventures in Romania

So here we are in Romania! Not much time to make a post, time is dragging on quickly and we have an early train tomorrow – but we’ve had a wonderful day.

We almost missed a bus and almost forgot our luggage, but it all worked out. Whats adventure without a little fear? :) Teamwork was the only reason everything worked out, so Desi and I are getting along great even with no time apart – a wonderful realization.

Here’s a photo we took today during a walk around Bucharest:

Restaurant

No one spoke English or Bulgarian at that Restaurant so ordering was interesting. We guessed most of the ingredients on the pizza and salad we ordered, and for those we didn’t know, we fingered it out as soon as the meal arrived.

We’re continuing our journey to Brashov tomorrow, not sure if we’ll have internet there. I’ll update when I can, and the adventure continues!

Thanks to everyone!

Desi and I wanted to thank everyone for their wonderful comments about our engagement. I can’t tell you how much it means to us to have everyones support and encouragement. A big thank you to everyone!

Today we went to the Varna Archaeology Museum for a tour, and I snapped off a few photos while dodging guards and security cameras (no photos allowed – didn’t stop us! the guards were old ladies sitting on benches reading newspapers in the distance) Here is one of my favourites:

Medieval Helmet

and one of Desi’s (her favourite was some hand-made angels, which we weren’t able to photograph despite our best efforts):

Gold neck jewelery

[edit: forgot to add the gallery list here, there's more pictures!]

The museum was amazing, well kept and full of amazing history that we just don’t have in Canada (doesn’t date back nearly as far). Hopefully we can visit at least one more museum in our travels.

Speaking of travels, in the morning we leave for Romania! Spending a day in Bucharest and a day in Brasov before heading to Hungary. I’ll be taking pictures and hopefully posting a few.

The adventure continues!

A Special Announcement

Some of you knew what I was planning, but almost everyone was in the dark.

Last night I proposed to Desi :) The answer was yes, and we are engaged. This has to be one of the happiest moments in my life, and I wanted to let everyone know.

Holding Hands

I bought the ring a few weeks ago, before our trip, with the intention of giving it to Desi at some point during our travels. That moment happened yesterday, and made a wonderful end to an already beautiful evening (it was Desi’s best friend’s wedding that day).

We’re both extremely happy and excited, and very much in love. We’ve only decided on one this so far: the wedding won’t be until Desi finishes school, in about three years. There is plenty of time for planning, and we’re not rushing anything.

Desi says thank you for making her feel at home and as a part of the family, and accepting her for who she is. She is extremely grateful, and so am I.

I’d like to thank everyone for all of their support and approval, it all means so much. This is the first step on a long journey for the both of us, a journey we’re both excited to begin when the time is right.

We’re all smiles over here :D

Experiences in Bulgaria

I would really love to post these photos in a chronological journal when I am back home, but because I don’t have the tools handy to do it now, I will just post up some interesting photos from the past few days. More to come! Enjoy!

A few photos

Here are a few photos that I am uploading from Desi’s friend’s place during a short visit. One of my favourite so far of me, with my feet in the Black Sea.

Feet in the Sea

We’re having a lot of fun, and Desi is showing me many interesting, strange, and very beautiful things. I wish I had time to upload more photos, but heres a start. :)

Note: I don’t have the luxury to edit the photos (even to make them smaller) so they may take a while to load. I’ll try to fix that.
